The fourth Sunday of each month is the Benton Fireman's Breakfast. The menu consists of all the buckwheat cakes and sausage you can eat, and the firemen throw in eggs, ham, bacon, buttermilk cakes, homefries, french toast--and it is all made to order. Adults pay $6 and children pay $3.

The Women's Poetry Workshop meets the third Wednesday of each month from 4-6 PM at the Phillips Emporium, 10 East Main Street, Bloomsburg. The Wednesday workshops include discussing, reading, hearing and writing poems. The discussions include well-known poets and the poetry that members write. The organization has one member from the Benton area and more are encouraged to come out for a night of poetry. To register, interested women should contact Carolann Heckman, 389-0522, or Nancy Herbert, 784-0607.

November 16. Pick up your dinners from the Benton Lions Club from their "Take Out - Chicken Dinner from about 4:30 PM at the Benton Christian Church. For information, call 864-2735.
November 18. Clothing giveaway at Benton United Methodist Church from 9 AM to 1 PM. Donations of clothing and blankets accepted. For questions, contact Janet English, 925-2417.
November 18. Kameeo's Restaurant and Lounge, 4438 Red Rock Road, Saturday from 6 to 11 PM will host a benefit for Sandy Johnson, 46, a victim of cancer. Music will be by the group Plum Crazy. There will be door prizes, food and drinks. Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door. November 23, Thanksgiving Day, there will be a Community Thanksgiving Meal at Benton United Methodist Church, Main Street, at noon. There is no charge and everyone is welcome. Any questions please contact Janet English, 925-2417.
November 27. No school. Excused for hunting deer.
November 30 and December 1, the next AARP 55 Alive program sponsored by the Benton Women’s Club. The insurance cost of your automobile policy could go down if you qualify for and complete the course. The class will be held at Christ the King Catholic church in Benton from 5:30-9:30 PM both days. The Benton Women’s Club will provide refreshments. Both husbands and wives must attend the course in order to receive the certificate. The cost is $10 per person, and both must bring their driver licenses and a pen or pencil. Call 925-6242 for more information or to register.
December 3, 2006. A Christmas coffeehouse is planned from 4-8 PM at Benton United Methodist Church. The Feolas and Pat and Al Hess will perform Christmas and gospel music. Free food will be available.

December 10. Benton Middle/Senior band and chorus concert. 2 PM. High School.
December 11. Sixth grade band concert, 7:30 PM, high school auditorium.
December 22. Early dismissal. December 25 to January 2, 2007, no school.
April 26-29, 2007. The 20th anniversary of the MerleFest will be held on the campus of Wilkes Community College, Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
July 10 to July 15, 2007. The 2007 Benton Championship Rodeo.
