Lungerville Christian Church

Sunday School, 9 AM. Church, 10 AM Sunday, 7 PM Wednesday.

Pastor James Harvey, 570 925-5081.

The land for the Lungerville Christian Church building was donated to the congregation by John D. Temple in 1896. A year later, the land was sold to Mark S. Lunger, who arranged for the edifice to be built in September 1897.

The church building was dedicated in 1898 by the Rev. F. Moorse of Benton Christian Church.

The building has gone through several renovations. Electric lights were added in 1947 and oil heat in 1951. A cellar was dug in 1983 and a vestibule and steeple were built in 1965. Bathrooms were added in 1968 and new pews were donated by Ralph Lunger and a well drilled in 1964.

Past ministers to the congregation have included Lee Lunger, Franklin Paules, Jack Kingsbury, Furman Doty, Tom Morris and James Harvey.
