There are no specific Windoze XP tips listed here. I do not use any computers with that operating system, so I am unable to offer any suggestions.

A quick way to get to a .com web address

You don't have to type in the entire domain name (for example (http://www.time.com ) into your browser's address bar. Just type the site's name (time) in the address bar and press Ctrl-Enter to automatically put the http://www and .com on each side of the word. This tip only works with domains ending in COM. You can't use this tip with NET, EDU, GOV,ORG, etc

.

Sending Blind Copies (BCC)

Cookies

Without your knowledge or consent, information is exchanged between your computer and a web server whenever you visit a web site. Web servers place small text files on your computer containing information about your computer and your preferences for viewing that particular site (like My Yahoo!, where you can customize a page to meet your preferences. When you revisit the Web site, the site looks for a "cookie" containing this information. While this clandestine activity may seem intrusive, most of it is harmless and is done for convenience and information. The type of information, such as your ISP, your browser type, your IP address, your monitor size, etc. are stored for informational purposes. Most of the time no personal information is transferred without your knowledge. You can delete cookies in Internet Explorer by clicking "Tools" "Internet Options" and clicking on "Delete Cookies." Cookies are safe to remove, but if you have a personalized page on a site such as New York Times, you'll need to redo your preferences if you remove their cookies. Generally speaking, these cookies are more healthful for you than, say, the toll-house variety.
